Manchester United officially terminate director appointment

Alongside Manchester United’s ownership, senior figures Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada have also faced heavy criticism from supporters.

Manchester United officially terminate director appointment

Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada are facing mounting scrutiny as Old Trafford’s crisis threatens to engulf the club’s hierarchy.

Once a theatre of dreams, Old Trafford has increasingly become a stage for frustration, with supporters questioning those responsible for United’s decline.

Since INEOS assumed control of football operations in 2024, controversial redundancies, ticket-price increases and repeated managerial upheaval have deepened the unrest.

Wilcox, promoted in June 2025, oversees United’s football strategy and recruitment.

However, his failure to address glaring defensive weaknesses, particularly at left-back, has attracted considerable criticism.

His relationship with Ruben Amorim also deteriorated before the Portuguese manager’s dismissal in January.

Meanwhile, Berrada oversees United’s wider business and football operations, leaving him facing questions over the club’s direction.

Both executives have reportedly seen their positions questioned, with Wilcox facing potential dismissal and Berrada’s future also attracting speculation.

Supporters expressed their anger during Tuesday’s 3-2 Champions League comeback against AS Roma, throwing tennis balls onto the pitch and releasing green and gold balloons.

Although Matheus Cunha’s dramatic double ended United’s nine-match winless streak, serious questions remain.

Now, an official filing has confirmed another change involving Manchester United’s wider organisational structure.

Manchester United director appointment officially terminated

As revealed on Companies House, Ian Andrew Nolan’s appointment as a director of Manchester United Foundation (Trading) Limited has officially been terminated.

The termination took effect on 1 November 2026, with the filing published the following day.

Nolan had held the directorship since 18 December 2024.

He previously spent seven years working at Manchester United, serving as Chief Content Officer between 2018 and 2025.

During that period, Nolan oversaw the club’s global media operations, digital platforms and MUTV.

Following his departure, he became chief marketing officer at Science in Sport before securing another senior appointment.

On 15 October, Centre Devils reported that Nolan had officially begun his role as chief executive of the Rugby Football League.

Companies House has not disclosed the reason for his departure from the directorship, and the filing does not establish that he was sacked.
