Stephanie Vaquer is dealing with an illness that kept her off the October 26 episode of Raw, but it does not appear to be anything serious.
Vaquer was set to face Becky Lynch in the main event in a match to determine the No. 1 contender for the Women’s World Championship. When Vaquer could not make it to the show, WWE changed the main event to Lynch challenging Liv Morgan for the title. The match ended in a disqualification when Morgan’s Judgment Day stablemates Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez interfered just as Lynch was about to win.
Dave Meltzer gave an update on Vaquer’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying the illness is not serious but that there is no set timeline for her return.
“She’s ill. It’s not anything. I was told it’s nothing terribly serious or anything,” Meltzer said. “But she’s ill, and she’s out. Indefinitely in the sense that it’s not like it’s a week. It’s something that’s indeterminate as far as when she’ll be back.”
Meltzer also explained how the absence changed the plans for Raw. “But that’s why they didn’t do that match. It wasn’t about an injury, and it wasn’t a worked storyline. They were going to do the match on Monday night and she got sick and could not come. And that’s why they did the Becky Lynch-Liv Morgan. And that’s why they did the DQ, because they didn’t want to beat Becky Lynch. But it wasn’t a match that they had planned, so they did the DQ that way, to get out of it essentially.”
The illness is separate from the injuries Vaquer has dealt with this year. She has been slowed by ankle and shoulder injuries in 2026, including a minor ankle injury suffered at Money in the Bank on October 10. She was medically cleared to compete on the October 26 episode of Raw before the illness kept her out.
The good news is that Vaquer’s issue is not expected to be serious. After dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries this year, she had been cleared to return to the ring, so an illness that is not considered serious is better news than another injury. The concern is that there is no clear timeline, which makes it harder for WWE to plan around her.
Meltzer’s explanation also clears up the confusing finish on Raw. The disqualification looked like a way to protect Lynch, and Meltzer said that was the reason for it. WWE did not want Lynch to lose a title match that was put together on short notice, and the DQ gave the company a way out without hurting her.
