Gabby Williams has received laurels from around the sporting world, and even basketball legend Michael Jordan didn’t miss sending her a message. The Golden State Valkyries have announced their entry into the WNBA with a title in just their second season. Even Air Jordan was impressed by the feat and had a message for the leader.
Williams led the team’s offense with 19.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game in the tiring final series. She was named Finals MVP, launching her into superstardom. Jordan contacted her to share an important message that defined the six-time NBA champion’s personality.
The former shooting guard asked Williams to “stay hungry,” and she responded with the same vigor:
“I’ve never been hungrier.”
Williams is committed to the Valkyries through 2028 and is worth around $1.2 million per year. A performance like that will only add to her future value, and team management likely will try to keep her around.
The Valkyries celebrated their title win with the Warriors, as the Warriors defeated the LA Clippers 124-112 on Monday. The team brought the trophy to Chase Center during the game, while Gabby Williams was accompanied by her off-court partner, Marine Johannes.
Basket USA shared the clip on X and wrote:
“During the Warriors game, the Valkyries celebrated their first WNBA title. 🏆 With the Finals MVP: our national GABBY WILLIAMS 🇫🇷.”
Williams will enjoy new success, which has etched her and the team’s names into history. The Valkyries will now focus on bringing the same core back next season, as teams go into the offseason and prepare for a new journey.
