Ja’Marr Chase seems to have no interest in pretending the Cincinnati Bengals’ latest win came easily. Looking back on Cincinnati’s 35-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on October 25 at M&T Bank Stadium, the Bengals wide receiver praised his team for erasing a 13-0 halftime deficit with 35 unanswered points.

Why Ja’Marr Chase Tipped His Cap to Zay Flowers

Chase also gave Baltimore’s Zay Flowers his due for the trouble he caused early. “Honestly, I just want to say I love the way our guys came back and fought,” Chase said.

“We never quit, never once put our heads down, and argued with one another. We stayed together as a unit and got the job done, and that’s what I love most about playing with those guys,” he added.

Chase then turned to how the afternoon began, when the game looked nothing like its final score: “But, man, I just want to say it was quite a game at first. I’m not going to lie. Zay Flowers was having his way… When I mean his way, it was just like the Red Sea — everything was Red Sea for him.”

Flowers struck on the game’s first possession, hauling in a 48-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Huntley to cap a four-play, 65-yard drive. He finished with eight catches for 137 yards on 11 targets, nearly half of Baltimore’s 298 receiving yards.

Chase didn’t let the concession stand on its own. “But he’s a great player at the end of the day.” Flowers has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons, and his first selection, in January 2025, made him the first Ravens player picked for the game as a wide receiver.

Cincinnati Bengals Were Able to Dig Out of an Early Hole

Cincinnati’s offense gave its defense little help early. The Bengals punted on three of their four first-half possessions, and none of those drives gained more than 21 yards.

Baltimore, meanwhile, had two long drives stall. An 18-play march that ate 11 minutes and a 13-play drive just before halftime both ended in Tyler Loop field goals, from 34 and 24 yards.

The response Chase described came right out of halftime. Cincinnati opened the third quarter with a nine-play, 66-yard touchdown drive capped by Joe Burrow’s 6-yard pass to Mike Gesicki, while Baltimore’s first possession of the half lost five yards.

It was the first of five straight touchdown drives to start the second half, and Burrow finished 22 of 30 for 292 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.

Tee Higgins’ 13-yard touchdown catch with 4:29 left in the third quarter put the Bengals ahead for good at 14-13. Baltimore answered with a 10-play, 59-yard drive that ended on downs, the first of two failed fourth-down tries after halftime.

Chase, who ranks ninth on PFN’s WR Impact Metric, finished with five catches for 62 yards, added a 2-yard touchdown grab from Burrow that made it 28-13 with 7:25 to play. Demetrius Knight Jr. intercepted Huntley on Baltimore’s very next snap, and Drew Sample’s 16-yard touchdown catch capped a three-play drive to close the scoring.

The win moved the Bengals to 4-2, good for third in the AFC North, and dropped the Ravens to 4-3.

The totals were closer than the score. Baltimore outgained Cincinnati, 359 yards to 357, and held the ball for 35 minutes to the Bengals’ 25.

Flowers’ opening-drive score turned out to be the Ravens’ only touchdown. They failed to reach the end zone on any of their three red-zone trips, while the Bengals turned all five of theirs into touchdowns.
