Daniel Sturridge appeared to enjoy Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. The former Blues striker posted several tweets throughout the game, praising two of the club’s emerging stars.
Morgan Rogers broke the deadlock with a superb goal, Romeo Lavia dominated the midfield battle and Mike Penders produced a stunning save to preserve his clean sheet. However, Sturridge was particularly impressed by Estevao Willian and Josh Acheampong.

Chelsea beat Man United 2-0 and keep a clean sheet! What are your thoughts on that performance? 🤩
Estevao and Josh Acheampong have had very different 2026/27 campaigns. Estevao had barely featured before the Man Utd game, despite Chelsea supporters singing his name from the stands in a clear message to Xabi Alonso.
Having been an unused substitute against Liverpool on Wednesday, the Brazilian wonderkid started against United and proved a constant threat. Estevao will be disappointed to have had two goals ruled out for marginal offsides, but he showed why Chelsea fans love him by taking on defenders and regularly getting into dangerous positions.
Salute to Estevao 👏🏾 On another day he has a hat trick and gets all the glory. Let him build some momentum and he will fly. Special talent.

Daniel Sturridge was also pleased to see him in action and predicted he would continue to impress if given regular opportunities. “Salute to Estevao. On another day, he has a hat trick and gets all the glory,” Sturridge tweeted. “Let him build some momentum and he will fly. Special talent.”
Meanwhile, Josh Acheampong has become an integral part of Alonso’s side this season. The 20-year-old defender has started nine of Chelsea’s 12 matches in all competitions, including their last four league games.
Sturridge also predicted big things for Acheampong after his strong performance at right-back against Man Utd. The natural central defender can still improve his reading of the game, but his one-on-one defending and ball-carrying ability are already top tier.
Josh Acheampong is a baller and he’s only 20 years young. He can become elite him. Love his game 👏🏾
