SLOVAN BRATISLAVA manager Yaya Touré hit a brutal milestone with a 14th consecutive Champions League loss.
A 4-0 defeat to LASK in Austria on Tuesday extended a run in the competition’s main phase which extends back to 1992.
Marseille held the previous record with 13 losses between March 2012 and November 2020.
The all-time record of 16 from the old European Cup is the next mark, with Jeunesse Esch of Luxembourg having the dubious honour at the moment.
Manchester City icon Touré, who took the job in June, is the first African manager in the competition’s history and a previous winner from his time at Barcelona in 2009.
The 43-year-old said: “It’s very difficult, to be honest.
“They were more aggressive, maybe we didn’t fight enough, but sometimes you have to just respect it.”
Slovan have lost four games this season with upcoming home clashes against Real Betis and Shakhtar Donetsk a chance to avoid more unwanted history.
Two more defeats would see them equal Jeunesse, who drew 1-1 with Liverpool in September 1973 to snap a streak.
Worryingly, Slovan are at risk of not qualifying for next season’s competition.
Touré’s team are eight points behind Slovakian league leaders FC Dac.
He added: “It’s not easy, but the season is long.
“We’re fighting in multiple competitions, at the moment were playing every two or three days and the fatigue has accumulated with this set of players.”
Touré was a highly-decorated player and is climbing the rung as a manager.
He served as an assistant manager at Ukraine‘s Olimpik Donetsk, Akhmat Grozny in Russia and Belgian outfit Standard Liege.
The Ivorian also had a spell as an academy coach at Tottenham.
