Frazer Clarke could face Joseph Parker on the undercard of Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua in Cardiff, Wales, on December 11.
Clarke, 35, returned to winning ways in August when he stopped journeyman Lamah Griggs, but Parker would represent a significant step up in class.
The New Zealander, 36-4 (24 KOs), has not fought since losing to Fabio Wardley 12 months ago. A failed pre-fight drug test for the cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine resulted in a backdated three-month ban, but Parker has since been cleared to box again by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD).
Parker, 34, was closing in on a world title opportunity before the events surrounding the Wardley fight. He also holds an amateur victory over Clarke, 10-3-1 (8 KOs), having defeated him in 2010.
“There’s a couple of names being floated along and thrown my way,” Clarke told The Sun.
“Joseph Parker’s one of them, and that’s something that I said yes to.
“It’s gone a bit quiet now; I’ve not heard much about it, so it could still be there, could not be.
“But that’s a massive fight for me. He’s a huge name, great fighter, good friend of mine.”
Clarke would also welcome the chance to avenge his amateur defeat.
“He’s got one over me in the amateurs,” Clarke added.
“Me and Joe boxed in India in 2010 in the Commonwealth Federation Tournament.
“He won on a split. I think I blew a gasket. I was young, and he was young as well, but he was more of an athlete than I was back then.”
