Tottenham Hotspur have been enjoying a resurgence in form lately. They have registered 10 points from a possible 12 since the Premier League action resumed after the September international break.
While the performances have been a lot better in recent weeks, Roberto De Zerbi is still seeking solutions to his team’s goalscoring problems. Spurs have netted just 10 goals in nine Premier League appearances, of which Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush have scored a goal apiece. Solanke has blown more cold than hot, while Marmoush is still adapting to Roberto De Zerbi’s system.
Tottenham have been linked with several forwards in recent weeks and months. Villarreal’s Georges Mikautadze was on the North London club’s radar in the summer. He moved to Villarreal last summer after a productive campaign with Lyon. The Georgian international impressed in his debut season in Spanish football, scoring 15 times in 42 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish side.
Villarreal have endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign, with Georges Mikautadze netting five times in just over 800 minutes of action. He has scored twice in the Champions League, including a goal against Liverpool last month.
Recently, the 26-year-old was asked about his ambitions, and he expressed a desire to move to a big club.
“I think I’m ready to go to a big club. I have everything I need, and I try to show it every time. I just maybe need a little more time,” Mikautadze said in an interview with French publication L’Equipe.
However, the Georgian talent also made it clear that a move to Barcelona would be his top choice if the opportunity to move to Camp Nou presented itself.
“Yes, it’s flattering, and it motivates me even more. It also means that the work is being done well,” Mikautadze responded to Barcelona’s interest in him.
“As a child, ever since the Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets era and the MSN [Messi-Suarez-Neymar] trio, I’ve been a Barca supporter. But I hadn’t really thought about it.”
Mikautadze, who can also play as a ten and off the left, can provide a different dimension to Tottenham’s attack. The former Lyon man has the speed. work ethic and technical attributes to play in English football, and he could be a valuable signing for Tottenham. They need more cutting edge in the final third, and the Georgian ace could provide that.
While he has a soft spot for Barcelona, the Villarreal forward might be ready to move to the Premier League if Tottenham revive their interest and persuade him to become a part of De Zerbi’s project.
