Stipe Miocic thinks Alex Pereira has what it takes to make history.

‘Poatan’ is still chasing a third divisional title in the UFC after falling short of that accolade on the White House lawn this past June.

Pereira was knocked out by Ciryl Gane to miss out on becoming the first-ever triple champion in MMA’s leading promotion, but the Brazilian fan favorite is not giving up hope of claiming the heavyweight crown.

And ahead of his second appearance in the division, one of the greatest to ever grace the weight class is tipping Pereira for success.

Pereira was not granted an immediate rematch with Gane, who will instead defend his undisputed crown against Josh Hokit at UFC 334 following Tom Aspinall’s title vacation.

The following month, the promotion’s 2026 schedule will conclude with UFC 335, featuring Pereira’s clash with heavyweight knockout artist Sergei Pavlovich.

Among those evidently backing ‘Poatan’ to get the win is the legendary Stipe Miocic, who is predicting a historic UFC title crowning for the ex-kickboxer down the line.

“I think he can win a third belt,” Miocic recently told Athlon Sports via Casino.org.

“I won a belt at 38. I think he’ll be fine. He’s tough. That (UFC Freedom 250) was his first time fighting in the big boy class, and I think he’s shown he’s ready to do it. He knows what to expect. It’s tough, but he comes ready every time.

“I think he’s already at that level,” Miocic continued. “He’s already won two belts in two weight classes, so I mean, he’s done more than I have. I’ve only won one weight class.”

Miocic ended his lengthy tenure toward the top of the heavyweight division in late 2024, when he unsuccessfully challenged Jon Jones for the title at Madison Square Garden.

He’s evidently keeping an eye on the happenings in his former stomping ground, especially when it comes to Pereira’s attempt to pursue further greatness inside the Octagon.
