Detroit Lions injury update: Jimmy Rolder out for the season

Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced on Monday that rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder sustained a season-ending injury during Detroit's Sunday win over the Minnesota Vikings that may require surgery.

"Jimmy Rolder's going to require surgery, or he could. The point is, this is a significant injury. He'll be out for the season," Campbell told reporters Monday.

Rolder exited Sunday's win over the Vikings with a hamstring injury and was initially tabbed as questionable to return.

It's a disappointing development for the 6-foot-2, 238-pound linebacker that seemed to be turning the corner against Minnesota. Rolder battled a leg injury throughout training camp that sidelined him during camp and to start the season.

The rookie out of Michigan played a career-high 17 snaps against Minnesota, carding a 67.0 overall defensive grade and a 78.0 tackling grade, per Pro Football Focus.

Rolder finished Sunday with five tackles, two tackles for loss, and his first career sack. He ends his rookie season with five games played, 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.
