‘He One of Us,’ ‘He Ain’t Too Big for Anybody’ — Jalen Ramsey Reveals What Aaron Rodgers Is Really Like in Steelers Locker Room

The Pittsburgh Steelers have provided Aaron Rodgers with a strong supporting environment in the final season of his NFL career, and the results are there for all to see, with the team heading into its bye week at 6-2, riding a four-game winning streak.

While Rodgers has remained productive in the twilight stages of his career, his off-field personality has frequently sparked curiosity and debate. However, his Steelers teammate Jalen Ramsey has now shared his perspective on what it is like to have the four-time NFL MVP in the locker room, offering a glimpse of the quarterback that challenges some of the perceptions surrounding him.

Jalen Ramsey Opens Up on Aaron Rodgers’ Personality

Rodgers has completed 175 of 288 pass attempts for 1,871 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions through eight games this season. He has also posted an 86.2 passer rating, maintaining a promising level of play while leading Pittsburgh’s offense.

Rodgers’ contributions on the ground have understandably been limited, with just 12 rushing attempts for 23 yards this season. He currently sits at No. 28 in PFN’s QB Impact Metric with a 68.7 grade.

In an appearance on “The Skip Bayless Show,” Ramsey made it clear how much the Steelers locker room appreciates having a player of Rodgers’ stature around.

“It’s cool,” Ramsey said. “I ain’t gonna lie. It’s cool. It’s really a blessing. We don’t let an opportunity pass us by where we take for granted that this is his last year. We got a Hall of Fame quarterback giving us his last year. We don’t take that for granted, just around the locker room on the field.

“That’s an honor right there. He could have hung it up whenever, and he would have been in the Hall of Fame first ballot. He could have done whatever he wanted to do, but he chose to come back, give the Pittsburgh Steelers his last season.”

Rodgers has attracted considerable public scrutiny throughout his career, particularly over his comments about COVID-19 vaccination. Ramsey, however, described a different side of the quarterback, emphasizing his accessibility, camaraderie, and willingness to interact with teammates.

“He’s cool,” Ramsey said. “He ain’t nothing like what people may think or may seem like. He (can) be in the locker room playing cards… He ain’t nothing like whatever people think.

“He one of us for real, and so it’s cool.. So, it’s nothing but respect from all of us to him. And then it’s the same. He’s one of the guys. He ain’t too big for anybody in that building. He’s one of the guys. So, it’s cool.”

While Rodgers seems to have earned the respect and admiration of his teammates, the Steelers still face huge challenges.

Pittsburgh will face several important tests following its bye week, starting with a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10.
