LIV Golf is all but finished.
The rebel golf league’s last hope of survival was investment group BC Partners, which looked set to back LIV 2.0 in 2027. But they have withdrawn support from LIV due to a lack of player commitments, and barring a last-minute saviour, the tour will likely liquidate.
This comes just days after Bryson DeChambeau declared he was fully committed to LIV Golf next season and supported what he presented as a sensible business model for the tour’s future.
Sticking with LIV now looks to be a colossal blunder, and it’s clear how the two-time major winner should have spent his offseason instead.
While LIV Golf falls apart at the seams, YouTube golf’s biggest event of the year is in full swing. The Internet Invitational is back for its second year, and it’s drawing millions of online views.
The first three episodes have amassed 23 million views on YouTube, as a mix of high-handicap content creators and former pros go head-to-head for a share of $4 million.
But golf’s biggest content creator is missing from the event. DeChambeau has spent years building his online presence and has 3 million YouTube subscribers. With the likes of Brad Dalke, Wesley Bryan and Luke Kwon teeing it off the event, why not DeChambeau?

Which player do you expect to benefit most from leaving LIV Golf? Several names have already announced they will not be involved with LIV 2.0
The two-time major winner is a big enough star for the event to work around his schedule. He’d add tremendous value, but it wouldn’t be a one-way street. As LIV Golf collapses, DeChambeau is a man on an island, and this could have been his life raft.
This was an opportunity for DeChambeau to invest in the internet’s biggest golf event. He could have taken the Internet Invitational to the next level by making it an integral part of YouTube Golf’s major championship.
He’s spoken about stepping away from professional golf to become a full-time content creator, only playing the majors, and this would have been the perfect off-ramp.
Instead, he’s a man without a tour, and quickly running out of options.
