Arsenal have enjoyed a positive start to the new campaign but will recognise opportunities for improvement in the transfer window. Mikel Arteta is determined to build upon last season's achievements by defending the Premier League title and claiming the Champions League trophy for the first time in the club's history.

The Gunners strengthened their squad through the additions of Ezri Konsa, Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis during the summer. However, Arsenal's failed attempts to secure Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior and Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez demonstrate that Arteta was prepared to improve his forward options.

Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi has seemingly emerged as a potential target for Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window. The 22-year-old has netted nine goals across 12 matches for the Belgian outfit so far this term, including a Champions League hat-trick against Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, the Gunners' recent achievements have been built on their solid defence, but goalkeeper David Raya has indicated he could depart Arsenal in the future. Here, football.london examines some of the most significant stories surrounding Arteta's side.

Arsenal target striker

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Club Brugge star Tresoldi. The Germany U21 international has impressed for the Belgian club, who sold Christos Tzolis to the Gunners in the summer.

Arteta has turned to Kai Havertz to lead the line in every league fixture so far this term, with Viktor Gyokeres failing to make a convincing case when given the opportunity. The Sun reports that this situation has prompted Arsenal to develop an interest in Tresoldi, with the Gunners weighing up a potential January move.

Tresoldi's valuation is said to have climbed to approximately £42million after Brugge previously turned down a £30m bid from Roma. However, Arsenal would face a battle with AC Milan for the 22-year-old, who was a boyhood fan of the Italian giants.

David Raya confirms La Liga wish

Spain international Raya has suggested he may leave Arsenal in the future, as he wishes to play in La Liga. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who remains under contract until 2028, has proved vital to the side since originally joining on loan from Brentford in 2023.

Raya has subsequently established himself among the world's elite goalkeepers, claiming three successive Premier League golden gloves, while helping the Gunners finally secure the title last season. The former Blackburn Rovers star also featured in Spain's World Cup-winning squad this summer and has acknowledged he would welcome the chance to prove himself in his homeland, having spent his professional career in English football.

When questioned if he would like to play in Spain, Raya told Marca: "Yes, I would love to, I would love to try La Liga. For now, I'm very happy here, but I would like to try the Spanish league.

"I think it's a very competitive league. Maybe, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I'm Spanish and I would love to play there, that's for sure."
