Takeaways as Commanders beat Eagles 27-10 on Sunday Night Football

It wasn't pretty, but the Commanders earned their second win of the season against a Jalen Hurts-less Eagles.

It was far from pretty, but the Washington Commanders got the job done under the lights.

Washington used the fourth quarter to pull away from the Philadelphia Eagles to win 27-10 on Sunday Night Football.

The Commanders are now 2-4-1 on the season, with this being their first comeback win of the year. Philadelphia fell to 2-6 and have dropped six straight as the team handles being without Jalen Hurts and other key players.

Washington trailed 10-0 in the first quarter as things appeared bleak, but Jayden Daniels pulled some drives together to claw back. An 11-0 advantage in the fourth sealed the deal, as backup Tanner McKee struggled to read the game for Philly.

Let's analyze the primetime matchup further with takeaways:

Jayden Daniels still has work to do

The third-year quarterback hasn't been at his best since his magical rookie run. There were some flashes against a solid Philly defense, but he still has more work to do to climb the QB ladder and become truly elite.

Daniels completed 16 of 29 passes for 217 yards, one touchdown and no picks. His pocket awareness is inconsistent, but he made some solid lobbed throws when needed. He also scrambled twice for 23 yards. Washington's future relies on Daniels to take the next step.

This was a game he had to lead for a win, but this isn't their year to make another run. Some important tools are missing.

Eagles star Saquon Barkley appears off

There were multiple reports that Saquon Barkley had been struggling with injuries in the build up to the game. It seemed pretty clear that the star was being hindered.

He ran for just 30 yards on 13 carries despite having a first-quarter touchdown, as backup Elijah Mitchell carried the rock 11 times. Barkley also took a pass for 24 yards, but the Eagles might need to manage their star better in what is increasingly becoming a lost season.

NFC East remains unpredictable

Who will win the NFC East? The New York Giants are on top at 4-2-1 so far and had a bye week, but their ceiling remains unclear without Jaxson Dart under center. Can J.J. McCarthy really revive his career in the Big Apple?

The Dallas Cowboys have the healthiest stars available, but the team just blew a major lead at home to the Gardner Minshew-led Arizona Cardinals to drop to 3-5. They're not in a good place.

Washington is 2-4-1, but it seems like a team still finding an identity as Daniels tries to rediscover his magic from two seasons ago. The Eagles at 2-6 are just surviving at this point amid all their injury woes. It'll be interesting to see how the winner unfolds.

Arizona rallied from 14 points down and beat Dallas 33-30 on Chad Ryland’s overtime field goal.
