Derby County are close to bolstering their depleted squad, with former Premier League defender Shane Duffy set for a Pride Park medical imminently.
The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving Norwich City after last season is thought to be finalising terms to move to Derby and continue his career as a Championship player.
Derby have seen their rearguard decimated in recent times. The latest setback is Dion Sanderson being suspended for this weekend’s game with Millwall, and Derby can’t get Duffy over the line quick enough.
Duffy has a number of clubs on his CV and has made over 100 appearances in the Premier League, most notably with Brighton, where he was viewed as a fan favourite.
The 6ft 4in central-back is renowned for his huge physical presence in both boxes, with Duffy excelling when it comes to aerial duels and resolute defensive leadership.

Alongside the recent signing Jack Robinson, Derby now have a wealth of experience at the back, and at least in the short term, the Rams should have some options for Eustace to choose from.
The Rams will hope to have Duffy over the line in time for the weekend’s game against Millwall, and given the current predicament, it would be no surprise to see him start the match.
This is only a short term measure for the Rams but having Duffy’s experience around the club could help improve the team’s fortunes this season.
