The new college basketball season has arrived, and Caitlin Clark’s name is being evoked already.

When Notre Dame picked up its first win of the season on Sunday, Hannah Hidalgo was at the forefront, putting up 32 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. After the Fighting Irish wrapped up their 99-75 rout of Villanova, the X account of Real App posted that Hidalgo has tallied nine games with a 30-5-5 stat line. According to Real App, only Clark had done this more times than Hidalgo, as the former Iowa star pulled it off 40 times.

Netizens reacted to the statistical tidbit about Clark.

“Iowa CC was an animal,” one netizen tweeted.

In 139 games with the Hawkeyes, Clark averaged 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. Her shooting splits were 46.2% from the field, 37.7% from beyond the arc and 85.8% from the free-throw line.

Just as Clark was winding down her college career, Hidalgo was getting started with hers. In her first three seasons at Notre Dame, Hidalgo averaged 23.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 4.8 apg.

It will just be a matter of time before Hidalgo crosses paths with Clark in the WNBA. Just like CC’s battles with Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers, that Clark-Hidalgo matchup will be must-see TV.

“Sometimes You Try Not to Fan Out”: Tyrese Maxey Talks About First Time Meeting Caitlin Clark

As for Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey, he got the chance to meet Caitlin Clark when his team visited Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

After the Sixers defeated the Indiana Pacers that night, Clark had a brief conversation with Maxey, as well as her fellow Nike athlete LeBron James. In a clip posted by the IndyStar, Maxey spoke about his interaction with CC:

“I think that was my first time really meeting her. Honestly, that’s just another person that I like to watch. She’s cold, she’s nice. Seeing her today was really cool. Sometimes you try not to fan out, but it was really cool seeing her. It’s her building; she plays here too.”

Notably, if Clark had her way, Maxey wouldn’t be playing alongside James this season. Back in the summer, Clark and her Pacers buddy Tyrese Haliburton made a pitch for LBJ to come to Indiana for his 24th NBA season.
