The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 7 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
While we will always look at mock drafts from analysts around the space, we will also keep up with our Mock Draft Mondays here on Browns Wire.
The Browns lost in devastating fashion in Week 8 to the Steelers. With that loss, they lost the AFC North, but let's dive into our next installment of 3-round 2027 NFL Mock Drafts for the Browns.
The Browns have a roster that is ready to achieve greater things, and I am aware I am writing that about a team that is 5-3 at the moment. IF they had a dynamic passer, someone who could push the ball down the field efficiently, they could be in a better spot than they are. Mestemaker may be green in experience, but he is on pace to have around 30 college starts by the end of this season and could eclipse that with a playoff appearance. He would be worth the trade up to; they have the extra draft capital, make a splash, and see if you can win with this young roster while you can.
Jalen Mayo is a fun cornerback prospect who can be aggressive at times, passive in a way at others; overall, he just fits well. The Browns have Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell, but they need a reliable third piece in the cornerback room behind them to keep them fresh. Campbell especially has been targeted late in games and has been hit or miss when meeting the moment. Adding Mayo to develop and put in those spots makes sense for Mike Rutenberg and his defense.
Gregory is a lean, dynamic pass rusher who could be a fun piece in their pass rush rotation. The Browns have shown they can have success with a deep bench on their defensive front. Gregory could come in and be a part of that and help this defense continue its aggressive approach and have success in the process. We saw in Week 8 against the Steelers what happens when quarterbacks have too much time. Secondaries can only cover folks for so long, including Denzel Ward. Having a consistent pass rush is imperative to make their lives easier on the back end.
