Joel van den Berg made his belated Celtic debut in the B team's 2-0 Challenge Cup loss to Ross County.
With Celtic manager Martin O'Neill watching from the stands, 19-year-old Dutch midfielder Van den Berg - who had been sidelined by injury following his summer arrival from PSV Eindhoven - played 72 minutes in Dingwall on Wednesday night.
First-team players Shim Mheuka and Landon Emenalo, both on loan from Chelsea, also started against the League One leaders and were substituted at the same time as Van den Berg.
None of the trio are in Celtic's European squad, so are ineligible for the Europa League tie at home to Besiktas on Thursday.
