Michael Carrick is clinging to his job following Manchester United's shambolic defeat to Como in the Champions League. The 4-1 loss to Cesc Fabregas's side made it seven games without a win in all competitions.
Carrick now appears to be facing the same fate as every other manager since Sir Alex Ferguson. The 45-year-old walked over to apologise to the travelling support following a chastening defeat that saw skipper Bruno Fernandes publicly question the manager's approach.
Carrick hit back by suggesting the players didn't work hard enough. The obvious discontent in the camp, coupled with an alarming display, raises serious questions about Carrick's future ahead of Sunday's Premier League home game against Bournemouth.
Away from the Como debacle, here's a round-up of other United news lines...
United are reportedly ready to revive their interest in Newcastle's Lewis Hall. There was disappointment in the summer when the club failed to land a replacement - or at least an alternative - to Luke Shaw.
United wanted Hall but Newcastle were unwilling to sell and then tied the full-back to a new long-term contract, which appeared to make him unattainable. However, according to The i Paper, United will make a fresh bid to sign the 22-year-old, who, it is claimed, is open to moving to Old Trafford.
The same report says United are interested in another left-back, Adrien Truffert, who is expected to leave Bournemouth next summer amid significant interest in the French defender.

Antonio Conte, a contender to replace Carrick if United decide to make a change, has reportedly set out his conditions amid interest from Juventus. The Italians are the other club being linked with Conte, who is a free agent after leaving Napoli in the summer.
However, according to TMW Radio in Italy, Conte wants specific guarantees 'for the next few seasons' from Juve before returning to the Turin giants, whom he managed between 2011 and 2014. The report adds that if those assurances, which it hints are about rebuilding the squad, aren't met then he is likely to opt for United instead.
Conte recently gave an interview in which he said he can see his next job being with a fallen giant, with United and Juve both falling into that category. He told The Athletic: "There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history.

"I'd like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more. Clubs where there's pressure, where, ultimately, you know full well that you're not going there just to take part, but to compete."
Juve are currently managed by Luciano Spalletti, who, like Carrick, is under mounting pressure following Sunday's 3-0 home defeat to Lazio, which left them eighth in Serie A.
