And it seems the Reds have been eyeing up another highly-regarded starlet. Swedish teenager Oliver Mansson has emerged as a player of interest for the club.
According to TEAMtalk, Forest are among a number of teams to have “checked” on the 17-year-old midfielder in recent weeks. Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Sunderland are said to have done the same, while Arsenal and Chelsea also reportedly have him on their radar.
Mansson is currently at IFK Goteborg and broke into the club’s first-team this season. He made his senior debut in the summer at the tender age of 16 and has continued to make waves since, impressing with his maturity as much as his technical ability.
There is no suggestion of a transfer being imminent. Nevertheless, the 6ft tall youngster is viewed as one to watch, with Goteborg aware of the interest he is generating.
It is not every day a player gets the opportunity to represent his country at a World Cup. For Azae Bonnick, the chance has come at the age of just 15.
In a proud moment for both player and club, the Forest youngster has been named in the England squad for the inaugural Under-15 World Cup. His call-up comes a matter of weeks after he made his debut at B Team level in the Garibaldi, having played against Burton Albion in the EFL Trophy
Now Bonnick will look to shine on a global stage as he heads to Azerbaijan with the Young Lions. The eight-a-side tournament kicks off on Saturday (October 24) and will see five group games played in the space of three days.
England are in Group C alongside Cambodia, Montenegro, Nicaragua, Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe. The competition will come to a close on October 31.
It has been a busy few days for the B Team. On Tuesday evening, they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Wealdstone in the National League Cup. A few days earlier, they had notched up a fourth successive Premier League 2 win by beating Manchester United 3-2.
The latter came in front of a record crowd at Loughborough University Stadium, with 665 fans in attendance. Fuad Smith bagged a brace, with one from the penalty spot, while Shakur Samuels netted what proved to be the winner in a hard-fought contest.
Against Wealdstone, an Amaru Kaunda header midway through the second half proved to be the difference between the sides. Dylan Malicheff’s side pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t quite find a breakthrough.
Forest will sign off their National League Cup campaign next month, against Halifax Town. In PL2, they are away to Reading on Saturday.
Sweden-born twins Joseph and Jubilee Ntege have made a fine start to life Trentside. The pair joined the Reds from Reading last month, signing as first-year scholars.
Last Saturday, Joseph came off the bench to score on his debut for the Under-18s to earn a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. His brother was a substitute in that game, too, and actually set up his twin for the leveller.
Joseph followed that up by netting a hat-trick for the Under-17s a few days later. His treble clinched a comprehensive 4-1 triumph over Burnley.
