"The route complements the borough's natural beauty, passing through picturesque countryside while providing a real challenge for riders, who can be assured of a very special welcome and plenty of encouragement from residents and visitors along the way.
"We’re very much looking forward to hosting this spectacular event and being part of something the whole borough can get behind, creating a lasting legacy for years to come."
The peloton will continue along Bleak Hill Road to Eccleston, before racing down Chapel Lane and Burrows Lane into Knowsley.
Stage two will finish with a super sprint along Liverpool’s waterfront.
A new dedicated newsletter will launch in the coming months to help residents and businesses prepare for the event.
The 2027 Grands Départs will see the Tour de France make only its fifth visit to Britain.
