Tottenham Hotspur secured their first win of the Premier League season by beating Coventry City 3-1 at home on Monday night. Roberto De Zerbi’s side will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins on Saturday when they face London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs are expected to be without half-a-dozen players for the Chelsea game. Savio and Lucas Bergvall both suffered injuries during the 1-1 draw with Manchester United and missed the Coventry win. Destiny Udogie sat out Monday’s fixture with a minor knee problem and could miss the weekend’s clash too.

Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are continuing to rehabilitate from their ACL injuries, while Mykhailo Mudryk is yet to join training since suffering an ankle injury after the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest last month.

Tottenham get double fitness boost ahead of Chelsea trip

De Zerbi suggested last week that Pedro Porro could be fit to return for the London derby, after missing Tottenham’s previous two games with a hamstring issue. The Spanish right-back now appears certain to return to the squad as he was spotted in team training on Thursday.

Simultaneously, in a big boost, Omar Marmoush was also seen training with his teammates at Hotspur Way. Tottenham’s official account posted pictures of Omar Marmoush and the players being put through their paces ahead of the big game.

The Egyptian was one of three Spurs players who were forced off in the second half against Coventry City. After the win over Coventry, De Zerbi claimed that none of Marmoush, Andy Robertson, and Tosin Adarabioyo has any serious issues after being taken off. And it has been proven right, at least in Marmoush’s case.

The 27-year-old scored a fantastic goal in the win over Coventry to get his Tottenham career off the mark. Carl Rushworth got his hands to the ball but couldn’t keep it out due to the power of the shot. The goal would give the Egyptian international confidence and lift his spirits to overcome a slow start to his N17 career after joining on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer.

As Marmoush was seen training hard with his teammates at Hotspur Way, De Zerbi should have the luxury of going with the same front four he started against Coventry, provided the likes of James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and Dominic Solanke are all available for the derby at Stamford Bridge.
