Time flies when you're having fun, and the 2026 Kentucky football season is proof of that. The Wildcats, picked to finish 14th in the conference before the season began, is 7-1, and in first place in the SEC. They're also ranked in the top ten. The season has flown by, with Kentucky playing each and every Saturday.
Do they play again in week nine?
No. After eight straight weekends of action, the Kentucky Wildcats finally get a break, and it comes at an opportune time. First, it gives a few guys an extra week to get healthy. Wide receiver Nic Anderson missed their last game, and running back C.J. Baxter has been dealing with an injury too, and could use an extra week to get to 100%.
The bye also gives Will Stein and his staff extra time to prepare for a huge game against the Tennessee Volunteers in week ten. The Vols are a very good team with a suffocating defense, and a dominant run game.
Kentucky follows Tennessee with Florida and Missouri to close out their SEC schedule. All three teams are ranked. Then, they close the season with a rivalry game against Louisville where anything could happen.
So Wildcats fans should enjoy all the week nine action without having to stress about Kentucky. Big Blue Nation can root for the teams in front of them to lose this week, or just root for other teams they enjoy watching. Have fun on the bye week, and get back to it in week ten.
