Rangers may find it difficult to permanently part ways with Lyall Cameron, who is currently out on loan at Dundee United.
Cameron put in a masterclass against Celtic recently, and Dundee United will surely be thrilled with his signing.
However, it is evident that Derek McInnes does not see him as part of his first-team plans, and at the end of the season, he may ask the board to cash in on him. However, that may sound easier in theory than in practice.

Scottish football chiefs are considering bringing an end to the Saturday 3pm blackout. What are your thoughts on that? Will it help or hinder things?
The Times journalist Michael Grant has claimed that it does not look like Cameron has a future at Rangers. The 24-year-old’s contract at Ibrox runs until June 2029, so the club are not under any real pressure to cash in on him at the end of the season.
McInnes and the Gers hierarchy will be happy if Dundee United look to sign him permanently, but Grant has stated that it looks difficult, given the wages he’s on currently. In his view, it is more likely that he moves to England.
However, Rangers News understands that there was no growing interest from English clubs for the former Scotland Under-21s international this summer, either. Things may change should he have a good season on loan, but as things stand, he’s not on the radar of too many clubs.
“Can [Dundee] United do a deal to get him permanently? I’d be surprised, with the wages he’d be on. Maybe a move to England eventually is going to be the solution for him.”
Cameron’s contract states that he has two more years left at Rangers, but it remains to be seen if he still has a future there. If the board have their way, they will be able to sell the 24-year-old for whatever they value him at.
However, things in football are rarely that simple, and the club have been notoriously poor at selling players in the past. If the decision has already been made to part ways with him, then he’ll not be included in the pre-season training squad and will be told to look for a new club.
Cameron wants to be playing regularly and that is not going to happen for him at Ibrox. There is a possibility that he takes a pay cut to permanently join Dundee United, but nothing has materialised on that front as yet.
