Lions star Aidan Hutchinson was left in tears on the field as he rallied his team to help get the victory and hand their division rivals their first loss of the 2026 season.

Campbell, meanwhile, was immediately taken to hospital for testing.

Following the win, head coach Dan Campbell was visibly emotional when addressing his team in the locker room.

After handing out the game ball to the entire team for a "gritty f***ing win" under the circumstances, he did his best to issue an update on their teammate.

"I'm gonna lower this mood a little bit," he began. "I do not have any more information on Jack. We don't know anything else at this point.

"So here's what I wanna do. We're gonna take a knee. Now I wanna pray for Jack, and let's keep him in our thoughts and prayers, man."

The team then prayed together.

Quarterback Jared Goff also addressed the team briefly in the team huddle afterrward and added, "Stick together. I know that s*** tough with Jack.

"Stick together and lean on each other, alright? Good job."

About two-and-a-half hours after the post-game press conference, where Campbell reiterated to reporters what he had said in the locker room - that he had no updates - the Lions' X account released a very brief statement.

"Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring. The team will provide further updates as we have them," it read.

Fans have fears of history repeating itself

Although fans appreciated the update, the wording of the statement did not assuage the fear from some, especially as they were unable to confirm whether Campbell yet had any movement in his extremities.

"Usually by this point, we have learned a player has all movement in their extremities with an injury like that. Definitely concerning we don't have that update yet. Wish him nothing but the best," one fan posted to social media.

"But can he move??? We just want to make sure he has feeling," a second fan wrote.

"This post doesn't sound reassuring... Man, I think everyone in the game and fans alike are praying for the dude," a third commented.

A Pittsburgh Steelers fan added, "Prayers bro. We have been through it with Ryan Shazier and we are praying for not the same situation."

The Steelers fan is referring to a Monday Night Football game back in 2017 when Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a spinal cord injury that ended his career.

Despite being told that he would have just a 20 percent chance of ever walking again, Shazier aggressively attacked his rehabilitation with one goal in mind - to prove them wrong and walk.

One year later, there was not a dry eye in the room when he walked unaided onto the stage at the 2018 NFL Draft to announce the Steelers' first-round pick.

For now, though, all thoughts and prayers are with Campbell as we await more information on his status.
