Substitute Vinith Venkatesh’s injury-time equaliser salvaged a point for Bengaluru FC as it held NorthEast United FC to a 1-1 draw in the Indian Super League at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Friday.

Vinith’s right-footed strike into the bottom-left corner in the third minute of stoppage time cancelled out M.S. Jithin’s goal in the 15th minute. Vinith’s goal was a result of a defensive mix-up between ’keeper Gurmeet Singh and Eneko Satrustegui while Jithin’s opener came courtesy a counter-attacking move.

The draw maintains both teams’ unbeaten records, as NorthEast continues its position atop the table with eight points from four matches and BFC is second on seven points from three games.

NorthEast next plays Goan club Churchill Brothers away on November 5 while BFC will take the field a day later at the same Fatorda Stadium in Margao, where it faces FC Goa.

The result: NorthEast United FC 1 (Jithin 15) drew with Bengaluru FC 1 (Vinith 90+3).
