The Baltimore Ravens have added another quarterback to their roster, signing Kedon Slovis from the Green Bay Packers' practice squad as the organization navigates significant injuries at the position.

Slovis joins Baltimore after Lamar Jackson suffered a right thumb injury and Tyler Huntley sustained a season-ending turf toe injury during Sunday's loss to Buffalo. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano will start Thursday against Jacksonville, leaving Slovis as the expected primary backup. The 25-year-old quarterback brings extensive college experience but limited NFL regular-season playing time.

Here are five things to know about Baltimore's newest quarterback.

Kedon Slovis

QUARTERBACK PROFILE

1. Slovis was a standout quarterback at USC

Slovis began his college career at Southern California, where he immediately emerged as one of the Pac-12's most promising young quarterbacks. He earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors in 2019 and became a productive passer over his three seasons with the Trojans.

His early success made him an intriguing NFL prospect, though his college career eventually included stops at two additional programs.

2. He played for three major college programs

After leaving USC, Slovis transferred to Pittsburgh for the 2022 season before finishing his college career at BYU in 2023.

That experience exposed him to different offensive systems and coaching philosophies, which could help him adjust to Baltimore's offense.

Slovis went undrafted in 2024 despite his extensive starting experience, beginning a professional career that has involved several stops around the NFL.

3. Slovis has appeared in two NFL regular-season games

The Indianapolis Colts originally signed Slovis as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He was released before the regular season and spent his rookie year on Houston's practice squad. Slovis remained with the Texans during the 2025 offseason before joining Arizona's practice squad. He eventually reached the Cardinals' active roster, appearing in two regular-season games and completing one of two passes for minus-2 yards.

While his regular-season production remains limited, those appearances gave Slovis his first experience in meaningful NFL games.

4. He performed well enough in preseason to attract Green Bay

Slovis appeared in four preseason games for Arizona in 2026, completing 39 of 61 passes for 434 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His most extensive opportunity came against Green Bay, when he completed 21 of 35 passes for 223 yards.

The Packers signed Slovis to their practice squad shortly after Arizona released him, giving him another chance to keep developing.

Baltimore has now added him to its active roster as the Ravens deal with their quarterback injuries.

5. Slovis already has a connection to Baltimore's coaching staff

One factor working in Slovis' favor is his relationship with Ravens quarterback coach Israel Woolfork. Woolfork worked with Slovis in Arizona during the 2025 season, giving Baltimore's coaching staff firsthand knowledge of his abilities and development. Slovis also played at USC while Ravens wide receivers coach Keary Colbert was on the Trojans' coaching staff. Those relationships could help him adjust to a new system with limited preparation time.

Slovis is unlikely to face the immediate pressure placed on Fagnano, but Baltimore's quarterback injuries have demonstrated how quickly circumstances can change.

With Huntley out for the year and Jackson's return uncertain, Slovis has a chance to establish himself as a valuable member of the Ravens' quarterback room for the rest of the season.
