Will the Florida Gators be on the field today in Week 8 of the college football schedule?
So far, Jon Sumrall's debut campaign has been a success as his team is 5-2 just past the halfway mark of the 2026 schedule, having already surpassed the program's win total from last season by one victory. They also sit among the top 25 in both major polls, ranked 24th in the US LBM Coaches Poll and 20th in the AP Top 25.
Florida's five wins have come against FAU, Campbell, Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas, while Missouri and South Carolina handed them their two losses. The victories over the Rebels and Longhorns represent the first time the Gators have beaten a pair of top-10 teams in a season since 2012, while the triumph over Texas was the first ever in Austin and the first top-10 road win also since 2012.
Sumrall and Co. need just one more win to earn a bowl game bid — something the Orange and Blue has failed to do two of the past three years.
While things are trending well for the team, the Gator Nation will have to wait to see their beloved gridiron gang clinch a postseason spot, as Florida will not play this weekend. Instead, UF will prepare for its Week 9 rivalry matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC.
