India will face New Zealand in the second T20I at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, October 24. The visitors took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after chasing down 226 in the opening game, their highest successful run chase in T20I cricket.
Shreyas Iyer's side will look to maintain its batting momentum but needs to improve its bowling after conceding 225/4 in the first T20I. India have now conceded more than 200 runs in four consecutive completed T20Is.
New Zealand will aim to bounce back after losing the series opener despite posting a strong total. Glenn Phillips led the batting effort, but the hosts struggled to contain India's aggressive top order. New Zealand bowlers will try to improve their execution, particularly during the powerplay.
India have won four of their last five T20I meetings with New Zealand, giving them a strong recent record against the hosts. With both teams showing their ability to score quickly in the opening match, the second T20I could again produce a high-scoring contest at Hagley Oval.

After New Zealand fought back with a few quick wickets, Shreyas Iyer contributed 42 before Naman Dhir's unbeaten 42 off 15 balls sealed the win. With the ball, Axar Patel took one wicket but conceded 51 runs, while returning pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar went wicketless and gave away 49 runs.

However, New Zealand struggled to defend the total, with India scoring 94 runs in the powerplay. Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each to briefly bring the hosts back into the contest, but the fast bowlers could not slow the chase.

Hagley Oval generally offers good batting conditions, with consistent bounce and enough pace for batters to play their shots. However, the surface can offer assistance to seamers, particularly early in the innings.
