This is a devastating week for Khvicha Kvaratkhelia.

The winger had an incredible season last time out, and was hoping to do even better this year. But he ruptured his ACL on Tuesday night against Barcelona, and now won’t feature again this season, barring a “miracle.”

He must be very down – in fact a despairing social media post in the aftermath of the injury proved he really was. But there is some good news for him.

PSG determined to extend winger’s deal despite injury

RMC Sport are reporting that PSG are keen to extend the winger’s contract, despite the injury.

They say that “both parties have started laying out their financial terms.”

There is a “clear desire” from the Parisians: to extend the Georgian’s contract until 2032. After two great seasons, Kvaratskhelia is in a great position to ask for more money, but PSG need to keep their wage bill under control. The club also want to extend fellow attacker Desire Doue, and the two negotiations will be closely linked.

The club will hope to conclude both quickly, with a minimum of fuss. Let’s hope that helps cheers Kvara up.

In other news…

Desire Doue has received a first verbal offer from PSG over a new contract, and could sign his new deal before too long.

There is no rush to replace Matvey Safonov at PSG, the latest reports are saying.

PSG lost several key players during this week’s win over Barcelona, and we now have an update on both Marquinhos and Ousmane Dembele.
