‘Angel Reese Is 0-1 in the Finals,’ ‘Thank You, Gabby Williams’ — Dave Portnoy, Caitlin Clark Fans Troll Dream Star After Game 7 Loss

Dave Portnoy and Caitlin Clark fans take aim at Angel Reese after the Dream’s Game 7 loss to the Valkyries in the WNBA Finals.

Angel Reese’s first trip to the WNBA Finals ended without a championship Saturday night, and her critics wasted little time reacting to the Atlanta Dream star’s performance.

The Golden State Valkyries claimed the title in Game 7, leaving the former Chicago Sky forward facing another round of criticism, including from Caitlin Clark supporters.

Angel Reese Faces Wave of Fan Mockery After Game 7 Defeat

The Valkyries defeated Atlanta 68-63 at Chase Center in San Francisco, winning the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history. Reese finished with 8 points on 3-of-7 shooting and 12 rebounds as the Dream fell short of their first championship.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy shared a video making fun of the result, adding the caption: “Yoooo….who made this video? Angel 0-1 lifetime in WNBA Finals.”

It was the 6-foot-4 forward’s first Finals appearance, coming in her third WNBA season. Other fans used the result to make comparisons with Clark, who has yet to reach the championship series.

One supporter of the Indiana Fever star took issue with Reese’s performance and her earlier confidence.

“Flexing a Finals appearance just to put up 8 points and take an L in Game 7 is crazy. Don’t post the victory lap tweet if you’re gonna ghost when the trophy is on the line, Angel Reese. Caitlin Clark is sitting at home watching, but at least she didn’t lose the ring on national TV!”

Reese had been much more productive earlier in the series, dropping 51 points across Games 2 and 3. She managed just 30 points on 10-of-33 shooting over the final three games, with 13 turnovers to boot.

Sports account “Hater Report” also posted a video targeting the Dream forward.

The comparisons went beyond scoring and Finals records.

“WNBA was never gonna let Angel Reese get a ring before Caitlin Clark. World would’ve ended,” one fan wrote.

Golden State trailed 30-24 at halftime before Gabby Williams took control in the second half. She scored 15 points in the third quarter, outscoring Atlanta by herself as the Valkyries moved ahead 45-44 entering the fourth.

One fan thanked Williams for keeping the Dream star from winning a championship before Clark.

“No ‘Angel Reese has won a championship before Caitlin Clark’ on my TL. THANK YOU GABBY WILLIAMS”

Williams finished with 30 points, including a WNBA Finals-record 28 after halftime. With the score tied at 53 in the fourth quarter, she scored Golden State’s next nine points, helping the Valkyries pull away.

Reese addressed the loss during the postgame press conference. “It is tough in the moment, but we’ll be back. I always say: delayed, not denied. This is only Year 3,” she said.

Despite the disappointing finish, the 24-year-old completed her first season in Atlanta with several individual accomplishments. She set single-season records for total rebounds and double-doubles and became the first Dream player to win Defensive Player of the Year on Oct. 1.

Williams, who finished second to Reese in the DPOY voting, added 4 blocks in Game 7 and was named Finals MVP after leading the Valkyries to their first championship in just their second season of existence.
