Leicester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Stevenage at King Power Stadium in League One.

The Foxes twice took the lead through Sammy Braybrooke and Kamari Doyle, but twice the visitors hit back.

Russell Martin made two changes to his team, with John Lundstram and Braybrooke restored to the Foxes’ line-up, Lundstram returning after serving a one-match suspension.

City were targeting a third consecutive victory at King Power Stadium for the first time since 2024 before kick-off.

And they made the perfect start, taking a 1-0 lead after 67 seconds.

A sweeping cross from the left flashed across the face of goal to the far post where Will Alves cut the ball back to Braybrooke to stroke it home from close range.

The Foxes twice went close to doubling their lead amid an electric start. First, Emil Riis fired narrowly wide of the post on eight minutes and then, five minutes later, Lundstram smashed a shot at goal that was tipped over the crossbar.

A bad mistake at the back then proved costly as the visitors made it 1-1.

Alex McCarthy fumbled a cross into the penalty area after colliding with Caleb Okoli and Ben Broggio pounced on the loose ball and scored from point-blank range.

City were quickly back on the attack as Alves flashed a low cross across the face of goal but too far in front of Riis and then Riis saw a close-range header saved.

They continued to threaten at the start of the second half too, Braybrooke squaring the ball dangerously to Lundstram on the edge of the penalty area, but he skied his shot well over the crossbar.

Doyle was then denied by a brilliant block in front of goal and Riis saw a stunning strike tipped over the bar by Stevenage goalkeeper Tommy Setford.

Doyle was not to be denied a second time, however, as he pounced inside the penalty area to make it 2-1 after Alves’ cross was parried into his path.

Stevenage hit back for a second time on 78 minutes, substitute Tugra Turhan firing past McCarthy from an acute angle.

RATINGS

McCarthy 4

Made a bad mistake and was severely punished as he fumbled a cross into his penalty area and Stevenage seized onto the loose ball to equalise.

Okoli 5

Perhaps could have reacted more quickly to McCarthy’s mistake as Stevenage pounced to equalise.

Lundstram 7

One of City’s best players. Easy to see why he was straight back in midfield after serving a one-match suspension.

Souttar 6

Gave City a scare in the first half when he went down after challenging for the ball inside Stevenage’s penalty area and needed treatment, but he picked himself up, dusted himself down and continued strongly as the centrepiece of the defence.

O’Hora 6

Perhaps could have done better to prevent the cross into City’s penalty area for Stevenage’s equaliser and wasted a good chance to score in injury time at the end of the first half, directing a header wide.

Riis 7

Will be wondering how he did not score. Went close to adding to his City tally several times, notably seeing two powerful strikes tipped over the crossbar.

Page 7

Another classy performance alongside Lundstram.

Doyle 7

Having been thwarted by a good block in front of goal early in the second half, Doyle was not to be denied as he pounced inside the penalty area to make it 2-1 after Alves’ cross was parried into his path.

Thomas 6

Did well at wing-back, but perhaps could have done better to prevent the cross into the penalty area for Stevenage’s second goal.

Braybrooke 8

Only took a minute to justify Martin’s decision to restore him to the team, giving the Foxes a dream start with a goal after just 67 seconds.

Alves 8

Always a threat. Showed good composure to cut the ball back to Braybrooke for the first goal and it was his dangerous cross into the box that was parried into the path of Doyle to score.

Subs

Smallbone (for Lundstram, 60), Burns (for Alves, 76), Chaplin (Doyle, 76), Cullen (for Page, 84)
