Sean O’Malley revealed that Daniel Cormier reached out to him in the days following UFC 333.

On October 26, O’Malley’s coach called out Cormier for being biased against the former UFC bantamweight champion.

This came about due to the commentator seemingly pushing for Song Yadong to get the next title shot at 135 pounds when calling the fights in Abu Dhabi.

A conversation between ‘Suga’ and ‘DC’ recently took place about this, with it not being the first time that O’Malley’s coach has taken issue with Cormier.

Sean O’Malley says Daniel Cormier reached out to him after UFC 333 to address bias accusations

Sean O’Malley was waiting to hear Petr Yan mention his name during his post-fight interview inside the Octagon on Saturday night.

Only Song Yadong, who was in attendance in Abu Dhabi, was brought up when Daniel Cormier asked the bantamweight champion what’s next.

O’Malley said during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show that he did think in the past that ‘DC’ was rooting against him in some previous fights.

“I definitely have felt that before,” he said. “I felt like coming up, there was like a little bias. He kind of wanted to see me lose a little bit.”

The former champion added that he doesn’t feel this way anymore and after speaking with Cormier in the days following the event, he’s not paying too much attention to what was said at UFC 334.

‘Suga’ revealed that the UFC commentator reached out to him on October 26 to explain that he wasn’t trying to push one particular narrative regarding the 135 pound title picture.

“He just said like, ‘Hey, I do think you should fight for the title’ and I just messaged him back and said, ‘Hey, bro, I don’t take anything personal.’ Even if Daniel Cormier thought Song was deserving, I would not care,” O’Malley said. “Why would I?”

O’Malley also said during his appearance on the show that he agreed to record a video with Cormier, which is set to be posted on the commentator’s YouTube channel later today, as promoted on X.

Dominick Reyes has taken back some of the comments he made about Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier received a lot of criticism from Dominick Reyes following his win at UFC 333 this past weekend.

The light heavyweight contender said that the former two-division UFC champion doesn’t do his research and is biased towards Russian fighters.

While Reyes still stands by comments he made about Cormier, he did take back some things he said when diving into this on The Ariel Helwani Show yesterday.

“I did come off a little hard on Daniel, and I’m sorry for that,” he said. “Calling him low IQ and things like that, it was the heat of the moment, and I do apologize for that. The other things, I stand by what I said, but I’m sorry for attacking you directly. Truly.”
