Everton beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night, with Kiernan Dewsbury one of the most impressive performers, earning plenty of credit from fans.
It was potentially the biggest win of the season for David Moyes as Everton defeated Newcastle 3-1, setting up a quarter-final against giant killers Fleetwood Town following their triumph over Arsenal on penalties.
Everton had some brilliant performers in the win; Hayden Hackney was excellent, as was Thierno Barry with a goal and an assist each. However, Everton’s man of the match was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, leading to plenty of positive reviews of his performance on TalkingPoints.

Everton fans on the app were unanimously in awe after how he completely dismantled Newcastle on Thursday night under the lights at the Hill Dickinson.
One supporter, @dantowen81951, waxed lyrical over the display from Everton’s number eight. “Running out of superlatives for KDH right now!”

Running out of superlatives for KDH right now! And say what you want about Barry, he’ll always get himself in those positions

He wasn’t alone in being amazed by the performance Dewsbury-Hall put in, as @markmarston agreed, adding what he really enjoyed about the performance.
“KDH was absolutely phenomenal, mate. Always showing for the ball. Picked the right pass every time. Ball carrying was quality. And won six duels! All action midfield performance”

Not only was Dewsbury-Hall fantastic going forward as he created lots of chances and really made Everton tick, but his mobility and ball carrying has now earned him comparisons to Frenkie De Jong.
Continuing his praise of Dewsbury-Hall, @dantowen81951 compared him with the Barcelona midfielder.
“I’ll probably get laughed at but the first time I saw KDH play for Leicester years ago I thought he had a bit of the Frenkie De Jong about him. The way he can just glide through people and always pick the right ball.”

Finally, there was another supporter, @hubertmorl, who made the simple yet effective point that “KDH is magic”, which all Everton fans can agree on.
The game wasn’t as comfortable for Everton as the 3-1 scoreline suggested, but it was a massive result nonetheless. Most of what Everton did well came through Dewsbury-Hall.
On another night, Dewsbury-Hall could have had three assists, while his ball carrying and work rate in midfield helped Everton to win the midfield battle.
He won five duels on top of his possession qualities, and it was all-around a performance that saw him at his very best. Dewsbury-Hall has become Everton’s most consistent performer and best player every week.
What a signing he has turned out to be.
