I make it 14 Newcastle United signings in 14 months.
I make it £547m committed on these 14 signings, including potential future add-ons.
We don’t know the exact transfer fees in most cases and so these are my best guesstimates based on what has been reported.
However, I don’t think the totals will be a million miles away from the reality, nor tens of millions of pounds away either.
I had to go back a few times and using my fingers and toes check for sure that I had added up the totals correctly…
Yet sure enough, it still added up to £547m spent on Newcastle United signings in 14 months!
Here are three lists:
Newcastle United transfer window summer 2025 incomings
£55m Yoane Wissa
£69.5m Nick Woltemade
£43m Jacob Ramsey
£34m Malick Thiaw
£55m Anthony Elanga
£256.5m Total spend
Newcastle United transfer window summer 2026 incomings
£24.6m Ewen Jaouen
£43m Bazoumana Toure
£23m Sean Steur
£35.5m Aladji Bamba
£25.7m Lukas Hornicek
£29.5m Amar Dedic
£52m Nico Gonzalez
£55m Matias Fernandez-Pardo
£3m Ousmane Diabaté
£290.5m Total spend
The Newcastle United team v Everton on Monday night:
Lukas Hornicek, Amar Dedic, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Lewis Hall, Nico Gonzalez, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Barnes, Anthony Elanga, William Osula
I make that four of the 14 Newcastle United signings started last night.
Hornicek, Dedic, Gonzalez and Elanga representing around £152m of that £547m outlay in 14 months, so where are the other ten Newcastle United signings representing some £395m???
Woltemade, Diabate playing this season at other clubs.
Jaouen, Fernandez-Pardo injured/ill.
Toure, Wissa, Steur, Bamba, Ramsey, Thiaw were on the bench last night.
It wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if Pope replaced Hornicek at Fulham on Saturday and Murphy came in for Elanga.
If fit I assume Tino Livramentio would be first choice at right back and therefore no Dedic in the team, whilst Lewis Miley could potentially be played ahead of Gonzalez if fit.
That conjures up a scenario at some point in the future where an NUFC team could be taking to the pitch with none of these 14 Newcastle United signings that cost £547m (in a 14 month period, within the last 16 months) included in the starting eleven.
How have we arrived at this situation?
