The San Francisco 49ers are expecting to get some key players back for Sunday's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, but they likely won't have their full complement of weapons.
General manager John Lynch said on KNBR that wide receivers Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) are unlikely to play against Las Vegas. Both have been dealing with injuries, leaving the 49ers short-handed at receiver in recent weeks. Evans missed Week 7 after leaving Week 6 with Achilles soreness, while Samuel has been out since Week 5.
There is some positive news for Brock Purdy and the offense, though. San Francisco expects to get Demarcus Robinson and KhaDarel Hodge back, giving the team two more receivers who have battled injuries this year. They'll join the cadre of pass-catchers that include tight end George Kittle as well as receivers Brandin Cooks, Christian Kirk, Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing.
The 49ers will also welcome back a major defensive reinforcement in Nick Bosa. The star pass rusher is expected to return after missing time with a calf injury. Bosa has been out since Week 3.
"We're happy to have him back. He is a difference-maker when he's out there," Lynch said on KNBR. "So it will be great to see Nick out there on the field and making a difference as he always does."
Bosa's return should provide a significant boost to a San Francisco defense that has had to navigate injuries to several key players this season. He'll get to play with his former teammate, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, whom the 49ers traded for last week.
