Manny Pacquiao continues to be linked to an appearance on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua card in December, and a two-time world champion is now claiming that he has agreed his terms for the fight and is waiting for Pacquiao to do the same.
Pacquiao has been sidelined throughout 2026 whilst patiently awaiting a well-rumoured rematch with Floyd Mayweather, but it seems as though that event will not take place until 2027.
As a result, the Filipino legend has been mooted to fight on the blockbuster December bill, headlined by Fury and Joshua, with a host of names being whispered as his potential opponent.
One of those names is two-time super-featherweight world champion Joe Cordina, who would be fighting in his hometown of Cardiff if selected to be the eight-division world champion’s dance partner.
Speaking with talkSPORT Boxing, Cordina revealed that he has accepted his side of the deal and is now awaiting news from Pacquiao and his team.
“I have agreed everything, it’s over to them now, basically. It is in my hometown so it makes sense me being on the show, obviously, against who? That doesn’t really matter to me, but Manny Pacquiao is a name that has been put forward to me and I have agreed everything.”
Cordina, who is in also line for a shot at Abdullah Mason’s WBO lightweight world title, then went on to admit he would prefer a showdown with Pacquiao over a world title challenge.
“Whether it is him, Abdullah Mason or Shakur [Stevenson], it doesn’t really matter to me. I will fight anybody.”
“For me, the main thing is just getting on the show. That is my goal, to get on the show, but for me to fight Manny Pacquiao on a show in my hometown in the Principality Stadium, that is just a different level.”
“I am mandatory for the WBO [lightweight] world title but, if Manny Pacquiao is on the plate for me, 100% I am taking that.”
News on the undercard is expected soon, with Cordina eagerly awaiting confirmation of whether he will be fighting on the card and, if so, whether it will be at 135lbs against Mason or 147lbs against Pacquiao.
