NFL power rankings Week 9 change with Bills, Broncos, Lions, Rams wins
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills celebrates with teammates after a score against the Baltimore Ravens during the fourth quarter of the game at Highmark Stadium on November 01, 2026 in Orchard Park, New York.

There is a different No. 1 in our NFL power rankings for the third straight week.

The Buffalo Bills have taken over the top spot in our NFL Week 9 power rankings after defeating the Baltimore Ravens, 36-10, in NFL Week 8 on Nov. 1, to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Bills were ranked No. 2 in our NFL Week 8 power rankings.

Buffalo passed the previously ranked No. 1 Minnesota Vikings, who lost to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, 19-15, to take over the top spot in this week's NFL power rankings.

The Bills are the fifth team to be ranked No. 1 in our NFL power rankings this season, joining the Los Angeles Rams (NFL Week 1), Baltimore Ravens (NFL Week 2), San Francisco 49ers (NFL Week 3 through NFL Week 7) and Minnesota Vikings (NFL Week 8). How long can Buffalo stay ranked No. 1? Buffalo takes on the 6-1 Vikings in NFL Week 9, the New York Jets in NFL Week 10 and the Miami Dolphins in NFL Week 11.

Here's how all 32 teams in the NFL stack up after NFL Week 8, with these Week 9 NFL power rankings set to be updated after the Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks game on Monday Night Football today. Previous ranking in parentheses.

32. Los Angeles Chargers (32)

The Chargers remain the NFL's lone winless team, at 0-7. They have only scored 99 points this season and are off to their worst start since 2000. Ouch.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Los Angeles Rams, 24-9 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Houston Texans (Nov. 8)

31. Miami Dolphins (30)

The Dolphins actually had a 13-3 lead on the Patriots at the half. We'll give them a moral victory, because Miami, at 1-6, isn't going to get many more actual wins this season.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to New England Patriots, 24-19 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Detroit Lions (Nov. 8)

30. Tennessee Titans (31)

Yes, the Titans are just 1-7, but they play hard. Tony Pollard and Tennessee will probably upset some teams down the stretch of the season.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Cincinnati Bengals in overtime, 43-36 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Off

29. Indianapolis Colts (27)

The Colts (2-6) already made some big trades — and more should be coming after that abysmal performance against Jacksonville. It didn't even look like Indianapolis was trying.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Jacksonville Jaguars, 42-7 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Dallas Cowboys (Nov. 8)

28. Philadelphia Eagles (28)

Make that six straight losses for the Eagles, who are now 2-6. The problems run deeper than just missing Jalen Hurts.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Washington Commanders, 27-10 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: New York Giants (Nov. 8)

27. New York Jets (26)

The Jets are now 2-6, with games against the Chiefs and Bills up next. It's hard to see them having a chance against Kansas City or Buffalo.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Las Vegas Raiders, 38-33 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Kansas City Chiefs (Nov. 8)

26. Washington Commanders (29)

The Commanders got out of the NFC East basement with the win over the Eagles, improving to 2-4-1. Can Jayden Daniels and Washington start a win streak? It will be tough against the Rams in NFL Week 9.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 8)

25. New Orleans Saints (25)

The 2-5 Saints are interestingly 0-4 at home, but have a great shot at ending that skid against the Browns in Week 9. The NFC South is still very winnable for New Orleans. No team has more than three wins.

24. Houston Texans (23)

At least the Texans didn't lose this week. Houston (2-5) is 0-4 at home this season. The good news? It plays on the road this week at the winless Chargers.

  • NFL Week 8: Off

  • NFL Week 9: At Los Angeles Chargers (Nov. 8)

23. Atlanta Falcons (18)

The Falcons (3-5) are an enigma. One week they upset the San Francisco 49ers. The next, they are shut out by the Buccaneers. Michael Penix Jr. was 8-for-24 for 125 yards, with four passes intercepted in the loss. Yikes.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 16-0 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Cincinnati Bengals (Nov. 8 in Madrid, Spain)

22. Dallas Cowboys (20)

The Cowboys (3-5) led the Cardinals in the fourth quarter, 24-10. Javonte Williams had 24 carries for 56 yards, with a long of six yards. Ouch.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Arizona Cardinals in overtime, 33-30 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Indianapolis Colts (Nov. 8)

21. Arizona Cardinals (24)

Minshew Mania is back. Arizona has to stick with Gardner Minshew at QB at least for a couple of games after that performance against Dallas, right? The Cardinals, who many thought would be the worst team in the NFL, are 3-5.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Dallas Cowboys in overtime, 33-30 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 8)

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (22)

Baker Mayfield didn't complete a pass in the Buccaneers' win, finishing 0-for-3. Who needs to pass when your team rushes the ball 56 times for 324 yards? The Bucs' defense has been lights out as of late. Two straight wins put this team at 3-5.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Atlanta Falcons, 16-0 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Chicago Bears (Nov. 8)

19. Carolina Panthers (17)

The Panthers have lost two games in a row. They are 3-4 overall. And they still lead the NFC South. They won't lead it for much longer if they keep playing like this.

18. Baltimore Ravens (15)

Lamar Jackson returned for this game before getting injured on his team's first offensive play. Backup QB Tyler Huntley also got hurt. This season might be very painful for Ravens fans, whose team is now a disappointing 4-4.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Buffalo Bills, 36-10 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Jacksonville Jaguars (Nov. 5)

17. Las Vegas Raiders (21)

The Raiders might want to play all their games away from home. They are 1-3 at Allegiant Stadium and 3-1 on the road. This team is now a surprise at 4-4 overall.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat New York Jets, 38-33

  • NFL Week 9: At San Francisco 49ers (Nov. 8)

16. Los Angeles Rams (19)

The Rams improved to 4-4 with their second straight win. That's hard to believe for a team that was the favorite to win the Super Bowl at the start of the year.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Los Angeles Chargers, 24-9 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Washington Commanders (Nov. 8)

15. Cleveland Browns (8)

The Browns are now 5-3, which is much better than most people expected. But can they continue to compete in the AFC North? The next couple of weeks will be very telling.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-6 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At New Orleans Saints (Nov. 8)

14. New England Patriots (16)

The Patriots are 5-3 on the season after rallying to beat the Dolphins, whom they trailed at halftime, 13-3. The game against the Packers in Week 9 looms large.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Miami Dolphins, 24-19 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Green Bay Packers (Nov. 8)

13. Green Bay Packers (14)

The NFC North is now the best division in football. The Packers are 5-3 and are in last place in the division. Jordan Love and company can't be counted out, however.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Carolina Panthers, 27-19 (Oct. 29)

  • NFL Week 9: At New England Patriots (Nov. 8)

12. New York Giants (13)

It was a good off week for the Giants (4-2) with the Cowboys losing, giving them more space atop the NFC East standings. The Giants are the only team in the division with a winning record.

  • NFL Week 8: Off

  • NFL Week 9: At Philadelphia Eagles (Nov. 8)

11. Seattle Seahawks (11)

The Seahawks enter their Monday Night Football game on Nov. 2 against the Bears with a 4-3 record and a 3-1 mark at home.

  • NFL Week 8: Chicago Bears (Nov. 2)

  • NFL Week 9: Arizona Cardinals (Nov. 8)

10. Detroit Lions (12)

How big was the win over the Vikings for the Lions? It brought Detroit within a game of Minnesota in the NFC North. Jared Goff and the Lions are 4-0 at home.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Minnesota Vikings, 19-15 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Miami Dolphins (Nov. 8)

9. Cincinnati Bengals (10)

The Bengals (5-2) continue to outscore opponents, with Joe Burrow (5 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD) delivering against the Titans. Can Cincinnati's defense step up?

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Tennessee Titans in overtime, 43-36 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Atlanta Falcons (Nov. 8 in Madrid, Spain)

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (9)

The Steelers' run game continues to be huge, rushing for 200 yards and three scores on 33 carries to help Pittsburgh improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 at home. Is Pittsburgh the AFC North favorite?

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Cleveland Browns, 27-6 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Off

7. Chicago Bears (7)

How big is Monday Night Football for the Bears? A win would put Chicago at 6-2, just a half-game behind the Vikings in the NFC North. A loss would drop them to 5-3.

  • NFL Week 8: At Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 2)

  • NFL Week 9: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Nov. 8)

6. Kansas City Chiefs (4)

Make that two straight losses for the Chiefs (5-2) after a 5-0 start, but we wouldn't panic. Kansas City has the Jets, Falcons and Cardinals over the next three weeks.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Denver Broncos, 28-24 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: New York Jets (Nov. 8)

5. Jacksonville Jaguars (6)

Jacksonville (5-2) is absolutely running away with the AFC South. The other three teams in the division have a combined five wins. This team looks like a contender in the AFC.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Indianapolis Colts, 42-7 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Baltimore Ravens (Nov. 5)

4. Denver Broncos (5)

The Broncos, at 6-2, sit atop the AFC West standings after four straight wins. Bo Nix and the offense are starting to put it together, which will make Denver a tough out with its defense.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Kansas City Chiefs, 28-24

  • NFL Week 9: At Carolina Panthers (Nov. 8)

3. Minnesota Vikings (1)

Should the Vikings (6-1) make a change at QB? Kyler Murray is still struggling to get on the same page as his receivers. The defense always gives Minnesota a chance, but Minnesota needs more from its offense to contend for the NFC title.

  • NFL Week 8: Lost to Detroit Lions, 19-15 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: Buffalo Bills (Nov. 9)

2. San Francisco 49ers (3)

The 49ers (6-1) come out of their bye with a home game against the Raiders. San Francisco is 4-0 at home this season and still atop the NFC West standings.

  • NFL Week 8: Off

  • NFL Week 9: Las Vegas Raiders (Nov. 8)

1. Buffalo Bills (2)

The Bills are now 6-1. They have won three straight. We have serious questions about their defense, but their offense is very hard to stop. They are the best team in the NFL ... right now.

  • NFL Week 8: Beat Baltimore Ravens, 36-10 (Nov. 1)

  • NFL Week 9: At Minnesota Vikings (Nov. 9)
