According to Eddie Hearn, his fighter will take on Manny Pacquiao on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua undercard.
This coming December 11, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally clash at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, after months and months of negotiations.
Despite the fight being touted as the biggest fight in British boxing history, the main talking point surrounding the fight is Dana White’s involvement, with Eddie Hearn claiming White isn’t involved.
Now, though, with the fight just a few months out, the card will need to begin taking shape and according to reports, Manny Pacquiao is set to feature on the card.
Pacquiao’s inclusion on the event was confirmed a few weeks ago, with a few opponents having already been talked about for his return fight. Initially, Amir Khan, Jack Catterall and Kell Brook were the opponents shortlisted, however, things have taken a turn.
This Thursday afternoon, Matchroom promoter, Hearn, claimed that his fighter Joe Cordina has accepted terms for a fight against ‘PacMan’, potentially confirming his inclusion on the event in his home country. “We’ve agreed to terms to fight Manny Pacquiao but we don’t know if that’s happening, from our side we’ve agreed to do it,” Hearn told the media this Thursday.
Cordina hasn’t fought since last December when he took on Gabriel Flores Jr., winning the WBO International Lightweight title by unanimous decision. The only loss of the 34-year-old’s career came against Anthony Cacace back in 2024.
Since Pacquiao’s last fight in July last year, when he was involved in a majority draw against Mario Barrios, the 47-year-old has been involved in several talks for other fights. Pacquiao was scheduled for a rematch against Floyd Mayweather, after Netflix announced that their fight would take place from the Sphere in Las Vegas. He was also scheduled to fight Ruslan Provodnikov this past April but the event was canceled.
Initially, Pacquiao was in talks to fight Shakur Stevenson, but according to reports, Netflix didn’t want to pay four mega purses and Stevenson was ultimately priced out of the event. Not long after, Stevenson announced his exit from Zuffa Boxing, ended what was only a few month partnership, in which he didn’t fight.
