Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are two of the greatest golfers in the history of the sport.

Woods obviously achieved more than Mickelson, with 82 PGA Tour wins to his name, including 15 major championships.

However, the 56-year-old has an incredibly impressive record himself, with 45 PGA Tour wins and six majors.

Woods and Mickelson were never close friends, but they always respected each other’s ability.

There is absolutely no doubt that they have been the biggest stars in the game over the past three decades or so.

The likes of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler have big shoes to fill over the next 10 years or so if they are to match the impact that both Woods and Mickelson had on the game.

How much Phil Mickelson has earned since joining LIV Golf

It’s common knowledge that the 56-year-old is one of the wealthiest sportsmen on the planet.

His earnings may have diminished over the past few years, but the amount of money he has received since June 2022 is still eye-watering.

Since joining LIV Golf in June 2022, Mickelson has earned $11,229,576 in prize money.

That’s not a bad haul given the fact that lefty has never won a LIV event.

However, the six-time major champion has raked in obscene amounts of cash off the golf course.

He is believed to have received a $200 million signing-on fee when he joined LIV Golf in 2022.

He earned $36 million in sponsorship deals in 2022, before losing the majority of his business partnerships in 2023 onwards.

Mickelson received $2 million in off-course earnings in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

So his total earnings since his move to LIV in 2022, including the signing-on bonus he received from the league, currently stands at $255,229,576.

Now, let’s see how Woods’ earnings compare to what Mickelson has made during that period.

Tiger Woods’ earnings since June 2022

The 15-time major champion has obviously played a lot less golf than Mickelson has since 2022.

In fact, he hasn’t played a competitive event since July 2024.

Woods only played one event on the PGA Tour after Mickelson left to join LIV Golf in 2022, and he missed the cut.

The 50-year-old played just two official events in 2023, missing the cut in one and earning just $59,560 in the other.

In 2024, Woods made just one cut, earning $44,400 in the process. That brings his tournament winnings total to just $103,960 since Mickelson left to join LIV.

However, Woods has earned some serious cash off the golf course during that time.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner was paid $67 million in sponsorship deals in 2022 and $68 million in 2023.

Those payments dropped to $55 million in 2024, $50 million in 2025 and $45 million in 2026.

The total he has earned in sponsorship deals since 2022 currently stands at a whopping $285 million.

So over the past four-and-a-half years, Tiger Woods has earned around $30 million more than Phil Mickelson.

Both players are blockbuster stars in the game of golf, and indeed in sport in general.

Woods is a billionaire while Mickelson is believed to be worth around $400-500 million. However, not everything has been plain sailing for the American duo.

Interestingly, both men clearly have demons away from the golf course.

As they say, there is a very fine line between genius and insanity. Woods and Mickelson have walked closer to that line than most in the past, but they have been rewarded handsomely for their efforts.
