With the NFL trade deadline now less than a week away, Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked after Wednesday's practice if he's having extra conversations with general manager George Paton.
Payton indicated his routine daily meetings with Paton haven't changed much, but the GM's group is "spending a lot of time" evaluating potential options for the team.
Payton was also asked if in-season trades are more difficult than people think.
"I always think there's buyers and sellers, right?" Payton said. "It's probably more noticeable in the last five years than maybe [in previous years], or at least I notice it more. Teams that are playing well are the potential buyers. The teams maybe that aren't [playing well] are the potential sellers."
Payton was then asked if he's a buyer.
"Well, we're a team that's playing better, so we're not looking to sell," Payton quipped.
The conversation about the trade deadline happened about 13 minutes and 52 seconds into the coach's presser:
The NFL's trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Broncos are believed to be exploring adding skill position players, including running backs. We will track all of Denver's news and rumors leading up to the deadline on Broncos Wire.
