EA Sports has teased the return of Fight Night, ending a remarkable 15-year wait for its hugely popular boxing video game series.
The reveal came on 20 October 2026 through new EA Sports Fight Night social media accounts, with a single image of red boxing gloves hanging under a spotlight above an empty ring. The caption read: "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back."
Here's what we know so far about the new EA Sports Fight Night game, and what we can reasonably expect.
There's no confirmed release date just yet. The account's bio says the game's age rating is still pending, which suggests a launch is some way off. Back in 2021, reports claimed a revival codenamed "Moneyball" had entered early development, though EA Canada paused it to prioritise UFC.
If we're guessing from history, a spring release date seems most likely. 'Fight Night Champion' launched in North America on 1 March 2011, 'Round 2' followed on 1 March 2005, and 'Round 3' arrived on 20 February 2006. The other two games went out in April 2004 and June 2009.
EA's UFC games, which filled the combat-sports gap since, also favour early-year launches, with UFC 3 landing on 2 February 2018. Boxing has no season to launch around, unlike Madden or EA Sports FC, so EA has some freedom. A spring launch is our best guess, but 2027 looks ambitious.
No fighters have been confirmed, and likeness and licensing are widely seen as the biggest obstacles.
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are obvious candidates; both appeared in UFC 4 as playable characters, and they finally meet at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in December.
Expect legends too: Champion's launch roster included Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Oleksandr Usyk and Canelo Álvarez are already in rival game Undisputed, so they're natural wishlist names.
For now we'll have to wait and see, but we'll update this page once we know more.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the obvious platforms we can expect are PS5, Xbox and PC, the usual platforms for EA Sports titles.
Fight Night followed EA's Knockout Kings Series and ran for five games from 2004 to 2011. Round 3 won the first BAFTA awarded to a Sports Video game. Champion added a story-driven Champion Mode and a new control scheme. EA then moved its focus to UFC.
