The FIA have confirmed that both Ferrari and Aston Martin have broken overnight curfew at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Neither team will face punishment, however, as they have each used one of their four permitted exceptions.

Although neither driver's car has been mentioned in the FIA documents, both Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Aston Martin's Lance Stroll's cars had issues during Free Practice action in Mexico City.

In the case of Hamilton, the Briton stopped at the halfway stage of FP2 with what looked like a complete loss of power, with the seven-time world champion "praying" the issue would not affect the rest of his Mexico City GP weekend.

Stroll missed FP1, but the driver filling in, American rookie Jak Crawford encountered mechanical issues that led him to stopping at Turn 1, which then brought out a Virtual Safety Car.

In what was an optimistic outlook for the rest of the weekend, Stroll's Aston Martin teammate Fernando Alonso confirmed the Canadian's car still had issues that needed to be looked at for the following day.

FIA confirm Ferrari and Aston curfew exceptions

In an FIA statement, it has been confirmed Ferrari broke curfew in what was their third of four permitted exceptions.

"Last night team personnel of the Scuderia Ferrari HP team, who are associated with the operation of the car, were within the confines of the circuit during the eleven and a half (11.5) hour period which commenced at 21:00 on 30 October, fourteen and a half (14.5) hours before the scheduled start time of P3 and ends three (3) hours before the scheduled start time of P3 at 08:30 on 31 October."

Meanwhile, for Aston Martin, the British squad have used their second of the four permitted exceptions for 2026.
