Through the good and the bad—and right now, there's plenty of bad—Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young remains the ultimate optimist.
Young spoke with reporters after Tuesday's practice, his first chat since last Thursday night's rough 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers. And as he was following that defeat, the fourth-year passer was asked about the state of his knee injury.
"I'm good," replied Young, who has been on the injury report with the issue since Week 4. "I'm capable of doing everything for the team. It's football. I don't think you can ask anyone across the league who's been playing if they feel, if they're not having something. Again, that's part of the game.
"But, yeah, feel good. I'm blessed to be able to go out there. So, it's just all about execution."
Well, the execution hasn't really been there of late—especially in the trenches. Carolina's offensive line was thoroughly bested in Week 7 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then in Week 8 by the Packers—with Young taking a combined 11 sacks over those outings.
Going into Week 9, three members of the starting offensive line lead the league in pressures at their respective positions—left tackle Rasheed Walker (31), center Luke Fortner (18) and right guard Robert Hunt (18). And whether or not his knee is factoring into things, Young's numbers have dipped—as he passed for 372 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in that pair of losses.
