ALEX Neil says he “dedicates his life” to winning games for Millwall and admits he feels he is letting people down when results do not go his side’s way.
The Lions ended a run of one win in seven games in emphatic fashion on Saturday, thrashing Derby County 4-1 at The Den.
It was a marked improvement on their previous home outing, when Millwall drew 2-2 with Lincoln City, and Neil cut a visibly frustrated figure during his post-match press conference.
“Do you think I enjoy losing games?” Neil said. “I live and breathe what I do at this club, and everything I do is for us to win games.
“My family doesn’t stay here. I literally dedicate my life to try to win games for us. That’s what I do. So then when people start to question me, as you can imagine, I ain’t best pleased. But I understand. So for me, I just want to try and win games for the club. That’s literally it.
“When you don’t, you feel as if you’re letting people down, particularly people like Jimmy [Berylson], people like Steve [Gallen], who put a lot of confidence in me. You feel as if you’re letting the lads down because I want to try and make them better quicker, but it’s not easy.”
