It's been a special week for Harry Kane, who was named the 2026 Ballon d'Or winner on Monday night. The Bayern Munich and England star claimed the award, with Kylian Mbappe and Yamine Lamal finishing second and third respectively.

The 33-year-old striker scored a whopping 73 goals for club and country during 2025/26, while also lifting the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal with Bayern. That was enough to help him win the game's most prestigious individual award and cement his status as a football legend.

With that career peak now reached, Kane may soon begin to consider his life away from the sport. In fact, he's already spoken about potentially moving into the world of American Football, and has now had an offer of help from one former player.

Kane's NFL Dream Could Be Moving Closer

Kane is on the record as having previously stated his interest in the NFL:

"It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic, let's put it that way."

With that past confession in mind, fellow former Tottenham Hotspur icon Clive Allen has now claimed he's willing to help Kane switch sports. Allen has travelled the path, leaving football to become an American football star in 1997.

The Englishman played in NFL Europe as a placekicker for the London Monarchs, converting six of six field goals and seven of ten extra points in his brief career. Speaking on TalkSport after Kane's Ballon d'Or success, Allen said:

"There's talk of it. I'll be happy to help him with that. I'm sure, the one thing I know he's got, he's got the leg to do it, that's for sure. "And you have to have a really strong kicking leg and he will have the mentality to deal with it as well. So, yeah, that would be fun to see him try that."

If Kane did try and make the transition from football to the NFL, he'd likely be met with huge excitement in the US. After all, following the success of the 2026 World Cup, and the improved interest in MLS since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023, soccer has been growing in popularity in that part of the world for some time now.

The English striker helped his reputation this summer, scoring six goals for the Three Lions as they finished third at the World Cup. He even caught the eye of US President Donald Trump, who called the striker a 'great player' after a 3-2 win over Mexico in the Round of 16.

He even questioned manager Thomas Tuchel's use of Kane when England were beaten by Argentina in the semis, remarking: "You have a great player in England who I've played golf with. And he is Harry [Kane] who has been fantastic.

"I think they perhaps made a mistake when they made him a defensive player. What do I know about soccer? They took the lead, and they took their best player and put him on defence.”

With all that in mind, it seems many would love to see Kane give the NFL a go after calling it quits on his football career.
