Manchester United beating Roma in the Champions League was a magical night at Old Trafford for Matheus Cunha and Shea Lacey as they combined for both late goals

Matheus Cunha has described Manchester United's comeback over Roma in the Champions League as a magical day for himself despite being sent off late on in the 3-2 win.

Cunha scored the late equaliser and the even later winning goal within the space of three second-half minutes. However, the forward was then issued two yellow cards almost as quickly, first for removing his shirt while celebrating his second goal.

Another booking followed for a mistimed sliding tackle in added time. Despite being down to ten players, United held on to the lead in Cunha's absence to end their winless run.

Speaking on CBS Sports after the match, he spoke about how difficult recent weeks have been, saying: "What a magical day. Of course, apart from the red card.

"Everything you can bring to this club - I always dreamed of being part of something unbelievable, coming here to this club, and having this comeback in this very hard moment of the season.

"I think everything, when we tried to do it, being part of Manchester United is very hard because in these kinds of moments in the season, we know we always have these kinds of comparisons with the past.

"We need to have these kinds of games like today, and then we'll get through the hard moment. But today was a blessed day for me.

"Being part of this, I have a responsibility. I always talk inside about that - I need to be this kind of guy - to have the responsibility in the hard moments and the good moments. I always need to show up and be there for nights like today.

Asked about the third goal that Shea Lacey assisted, Cunha said: "It was an unbelievable pass from Shea. It is beautiful when an academy player comes in, plays, and makes a great impact.

He also recalled the thought process, explaining: "The moment I saw Shea with the ball, the first thing that came to mind was 'go in the box, control well with the left and shoot with the right'.

"I think when I saw the ball go in, to be honest, I didn't believe we did the comeback. When you're in the game, I only try to think of the next section.

"When the ball came in, it was this kind of composure. And as I said, control well and have a good shot were the only things that crossed my mind."
