Murillo has been the cornerstone of the Nottingham Forest defensive unit for a number of years, and he’s searching for his very best form this season.
The Brazilian defender has had a bit of a turbulent season to date. He’s been out of sorts in a three-man central defensive unit, and he’s also watched his teammate, Jair Cunha, earn recognition with the Brazil national team.
Murillo has now played 124 times for Forest, and he was one of the main reasons why the Reds qualified for the Europa League during the 2024/25 campaign with his excellent defensive performances.
In the summer, however, Murillo did something that saw him risk the wrath of Oliver Glasner, with the Austrian head coach left furious with the 24-year-old.
A report from the Daily Mail has claimed that Murillo has endured a pretty frosty relationship with Glasner so far during his time at Forest – after making a poor first impression.
Glasner prides himself on having a squad that will outrun any opposing team, but so far Forest have been found lacking in that sense, with the head coach raging at his squad’s levels and ability to run.
It’s thought that Glasner was pretty disgusted with how Murillo turned up for pre-season, suggesting he wasn’t in great shape on the back of the injury he picked up last season.
In recent weeks, Murillo has looked in much better shape, although his defensive responsibilities have hardly been glowing, with both Brentford goals arguably coming from his poor defending.
Murillo has clubs courting his signature ahead of next summer – as he has done for a long time. However, on current form, top clubs will be looking elsewhere, and hopefully, Glasner’s passionate rant can get the Brazilian playing better in the coming weeks.
