Harry Kane has actually done it! The FC Bayern striker was awarded the 2026 Ballon d’Or on Monday evening in London , making him the best soccer player in the world. The 33-year-old prevailed over Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. While the Englishman was visibly moved during his acceptance speech, the excitement among Bayern fans knew no bounds.

For Kane, it was the greatest individual achievement of his career to date. Earlier at the gala, the striker had already secured the Gerd Müller Trophy as the top scorer. Shortly before midnight, he was finally crowned with the Golden Ball.

The award is also historic for FC Bayern. For the first time since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, a player from the German record champions has won the Ballon d’Or. The reactions from fans on social media were correspondingly emotional.

“I’ve never seen a more deserving Ballon d’Or winner.”

On Instagram, congratulations poured in for the English national team captain. Many fans were convinced that Kane had more than earned the award thanks to his outstanding performances. “I’ve never seen a more deserving Ballon d’Or winner,” wrote one enthusiastic fan.

Another fan was particularly pleased that the award went to a player who consistently puts his individual talents at the service of the team.

“An individual award for a team player—I never would have expected that! This circus of an award is finally setting itself right; the right player is winning. And it’s totally deserved—I tip my hat to him,” read his comment.

Notably, the joy over Kane’s triumph was apparently not limited exclusively to the Bayern camp.

Even a Borussia Dortmund fan couldn’t hide his enthusiasm: “I’m a Dortmund fan, and I’m celebrating like crazy.”

Kane’s triumph sparks excitement beyond Munich

In recent years, the Ballon d’Or decisions have repeatedly sparked controversial discussions. This time, too, there had been intense debate about the favorites leading up to the announcement.

After Kane’s triumph, however, the fan reactions quoted here were dominated by congratulations and approval. “Any other decision would have made a mockery of the ceremony. He so deserves it,” wrote another fan.

Another viewer went even further, stating: “The Ballon d’Or has just gained so much credibility.”

For many Bayern fans, the award is the well-deserved culmination of Kane’s development since his move to Munich.

The Englishman has not only established himself as an exceptional goal-scorer at the record-holding champions but is also taking on responsibility as a leader.

Things got particularly emotional during his acceptance speech, when Kane thanked his teammates, the Bayern management, and head coach Vincent Kompany, who is currently ill.

At 33, the striker has now fulfilled a long-cherished dream. And the reactions show that the new Ballon d’Or winner is being celebrated not only in Munich.
