Colton Herta will take part in another FP1 session during the Mexico City Grand Prix, helping the Cadillac driver to secure his Formula 1 Super Licence.
After driving Sergio Perez's car at the Circuit of the Americas last Friday, Herta is set for another FP1 outing at the Mexico City Grand Prix. This time, Valtteri Bottas will hand his car over to the American driver.
Based on the American team's calculations, Herta is one point shy of securing an F1 Super Licence for next season. He could earn that point this Friday. However, merely completing a couple of laps in FP1 will not be enough to secure the 40th point.
This will be Herta's fifth appearance this year. His FP1 outing at Monza did not earn him a point because he completed only five laps, covering a total of 25 kilometres. To earn a point, drivers must complete at least 100 kilometres without incident.

During the Mexico City Grand Prix, several drivers will hand over their seats to rookie drivers, as they are required to do twice per season. This year will be no different.
Max Verstappen is among the full-time drivers who will not participate during the opening session of the weekend. His RB22 will be driven by Ayumu Iwasa. Mercedes' George Russell will also hand over his W17 to Frederik Vesti on Friday.
At McLaren, Leonardo Fornaroli is also set to make another FP1 appearance. The Italian, who will also drive for McLaren in the WEC in the future, will replace Oscar Piastri. Meanwhile, Luke Browning will drive for Williams, replacing Alex Albon.
